Valerie Lynee Hupfer (Mosconi), whose life was a testament to generosity, kindness, and unwavering compassion, peacefully passed away on May 16, 2026, in New Baden, Illinois. Born on August 27, 1970, in St. Louis, Valerie brought light and laughter to everyone she encountered, carrying an amazing sense of humor and a heart full of warmth. She found her true love in Mark, spending 31 beautiful years together.
A graduate of Ritenour High School in St. Louis, Valerie furthered her commitment to service by earning her Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) degree in St. Louis. For the past 27 years, she dedicated herself to the care and well-being of others through her work as a nurse with the Red Cross, where her compassion and ability to find the good in people touched countless lives.
Valerie's presence extended beyond her professional endeavors; she was deeply devoted to her family and cherished every moment spent with them. She took great joy in traveling the world alongside her beloved husband, Mark, embracing new experiences and cultures together. Her love for music inspired many joyful hours at concerts, while her enthusiasm for bowling, golf (including Wii golf), spending time with family and friends, and cooking filled her home with laughter and warmth.
Known for always putting a smile on people's faces, Valerie’s generosity knew no bounds. She was a beacon of kindness who enriched the lives of those around her, including her sisters Shelly (Steve) Mosconi-West, Carla (Ed) Short, and Barb Meyers; brother-in-law Mike Hupfer; sister-in-law Kim Lippold; step-son, Tyler Kissell; and grandchildren Arilyn, Evan, and Autumn. She also held a special place in the hearts of her father-in-law Rod Hupfer. Was lovingly surrounded by many nieces and nephews, Jessica, Taylor, Tiffany, Kathryn, Bryan, Hannah, Kenny, Brandon, Dawn, Keenan, and Carrie.
Valerie is preceded in death by her father Jim Mosconi, mother Carole Forbes, mother-in-law Gail Hupfer, brothers Rick and Butch Mosconi, grandmothers Hattie Engelage and Ruth Hamilton, grandparents-in-law Leo and Lois Wettstein, and grandmother-in-law Hazel Repp.
The family will honor Valerie’s memory with a visitation at Nordike Funeral Home, located at 15 E Hanover Street in New Baden, Illinois, on May 21, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A second visitation will be held at Zion United Church of Christ, 400 West Hanover Street, New Baden, on May 22, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at the same location beginning at 12:00 PM.
Memorials made in memory of Valerie are suggested to the Clinton County Humane Society, American Diabetes Association, or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, and will be received at church or at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.
Valerie Lynee Hupfer’s life was a mosaic of kindness, humor, and heartfelt commitment to those she loved and served. Her legacy of compassion and joy will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
