Sharon L. Thomas, age 78, of Beckemeyer, passed away on May 3, 2025, at Barnes-Jewish Medical Center in St. Louis, Missouri. She was born on September 29, 1946, in Breese, Illinois, to Lavern and Wilma (Stricker) Hoffman. On May 4, 1968, she joyfully united in marriage with Joseph Thomas at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Beckemeyer, sharing a beautiful life until his passing on July 6, 2017.
Sharon leaves behind her cherished son, Brad Thomas, and his wife, Dawn, of Beckemeyer. Her radiant spirit lives on through her beloved grandchildren, Kirsten Smith, husband Dillon of St. Rose, and Bradon Thomas, his special friend, Sydney Schnitker of Breese, and her adored great-grandchild, Ren Lee Smith. She is fondly remembered by her brother-in-law, Joe Perez and wife Joan, nieces Linda Thomas, Stacie Perez-Oneil, Debbie Simcox, and nephews Eldon Hammond, John Hammond, Brian Perez, and Steve Thomas.
Preceding Sharon in death were her beloved parents, Lavern and Wilma Hoffman, along with her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Linda (Frey) Thomas. She was reunited in spirit with brothers-in-law Leroy Thomas, Charlie Thomas, Eldon Hammond, and Frank Edwards, sisters-in-law Betty Hammond, Linda Perez, and Marlene Edwards, as well as in-laws Mary and Melba Thomas, niece Lea Edwards, and nephews Mark Hammond, Jeff Thomas, Rob Edwards, and Michael Thomas.
Sharon was a woman of class and elegance. Everything she touched had glitz, sparkles, and bling. Her home was a haven for family and friends, filled with warmth and love. In her earlier years, she embraced the role of a stay-at-home mom by selling home interiors. She later dedicated many years to her career at Scott Air Force Base, retiring in 2006.
Her kitchen was a place of comfort, where she cooked and baked with all her heart, often insisting that you had more of whatever deliciousness she offered, until you finally gave in, and it was, of course, always delicious. With a house that sparkled and shined, she was often teased that you could eat off her floors. She spent her retirement savoring afternoons filled with shopping shows on QVC and enjoying her favorite soap operas, "Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful." Her daily routine often included drives with her precious Bichon ,Bella, stopping for sweet treats like McDonald's sweet tea and vanilla ice cream cones. Evenings were reserved for cozy moments binge-watching Hallmark and Lifetime movies until the wee hours of the morning.
When she was younger, she and Joe spent weeks decorating for Christmas. Their house literally lit up the neighborhood, and Sharon spaced every strand of lights to perfection. In springtime, she had the most beautiful flowers; she would often water, prune, weed, and sit on the front porch admiring her beautiful yard.
Above all, Sharon was a devoted mother to Brad and Dawn. She felt immense pride and love for her grandchildren, Kirsten and Bradon. A year ago, she became a great-grandmother and welcomed little Ren into her life, showering him with love and affection. Sharon's passing came just one day after Ren celebrated his first birthday. Though her family was small, she cultivated remarkable friendships that felt like family, showcasing her unwavering love and loyalty.
Sharon will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, her luminous spirit, and the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will forever echo in the hearts of her family and friends.
