Rosemary C. Santel, 79, of New Baden, died Friday, June 5, 2009 at Clinton Manor Nursing Home in New Baden. She was born April 8, 1930 in Belleville, daughter of Charles & Marion ( Raab) Ochs. She married Leroy H. Santel on April 21, 1951 in Trenton and he preceded her in death on January 11, 1995. She is survived by a son, Tom (Mary) Santel of Aviston and a daughter, Brenda (Butch) Marshall of New Baden; eight grandchildren, Chris (Jamie) Marshall of Aviston, Shawn (Kim) Marshall of New Baden, Becky (Mike) Wesselmann of Aviston, Hunter Marshall, Brooke Marshall, Tyler Marshall, Kylee Marshall, and Cole Marshall all of New Baden; six great-grandchildren, Olivia Wesselmann, Dylan Wesselmann, Austin Wesselmann, Molly Marshall, Megan Marshall, and Mackenzie Marshall; three brothers, Ardell (Sue) Schmissuer of Trenton, Melvin (Diane) Ochs of Puyallup, WA., and Ralph (Donna) Ochs of Dupo; two sisters-in-law, Luella Gabler & Florence Santel both of New Baden. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joe Santel; a sister, Dorothy Gass and a brother-in-law, Marcel Gass. Rosemary was a seamstress at the Martha Manning Dress Factory in Collinsville. She was a member of St. George Parish in New Baden. Upon Rosemary's request her body will be donated to Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. There will be no services. Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to Clinton County Relay for Life and will be received at the funeral home.
