Roy A. Grayson, Jr., 49, of New Baden, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, in Germantown. He was born on September 29, 1976, in Belleville, the son of Roy grayson sr and Catherine, nee Linkey cheney,
Roy’s career as a butcher at Trenton Processing and Behrman's Meat Market showcased his dedication and skill, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and customers alike. Beyond his professional life, Roy was known as a true people person; his friendly demeanor and genuine kindness touched the lives of many. A member of the 1st Baptist Church in New Baden, Illinois, he found strength and solace in his faith and fellowship.
His passions extended into the great outdoors, where he found joy in fishing, hunting, camping, and sharing picnics with family and friends. These hobbies reflected his love of nature and his desire to create lasting memories with those closest to him.
Roy is survived by his loving mother, Catherine (nee Linkey) Cheney; his fiancé, Theresa Bindrim; and his children, Shane Grayson and Megan Grayson. He is also remembered by his siblings—Gerri Grayson, Ray Grayson, and Sandy (Conan) Depuy—and by his nephews and nieces: Arthur (Brittany) Benfield, Anna (Zach) Missey, Emmie (Christian Fernandez) Grayson, Katlyn (Mason) Benfield-Osborn, and Glenn Depuy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Grayson, Sr., and his step-father, Harold “Steve” Cheney.
A visitation will be held at the Nordike Funeral Home, located at 15 E Hanover St, New Baden, Illinois 62265, on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Following the visitation, a memorial service will be conducted beginning at 7:00 PM.
Memorials may be made to the family and will be received at the funeral home.
