Robert Arthur Sibert, 95, of New Baden, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Trenton Village in Trenton, Illinois. He was born October 3, 1929, in Collier, Pennsylvania. His beloved wife, Patricia Ann (Mellein) Sibert, preceded him in death.
Bob was also preceded in death by his parents, George Warren and Anna Madaline (Collier) Sibert; and siblings George Sibert Jr., Anna Meryl Rutt, Loretta Rosenbaum, and Mary Belle Sutton. He is survived by his sister Naomi Tercha, and brothers Basil Perrine and Berle Pastories. Cherishing his memory are his children, Ronald (Margaret) Sibert of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Linda (Sibert) Fischer of Cleveland, New Mexico, along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He also embraced the love of Patricia’s children and their families, who became an important part of his later years.
Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force for 26 years, a career that carried him across the world. Following his military service, he continued a dedicated work life with Laborers Local 690 in O’Fallon, Illinois. He was a proud veteran and a dedicated member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and The American Legion. Never one to sit still, Bob found joy in driving new Cadillacs from dealership to dealership—a sideline that conveniently fueled his love of golf. With his clubs tossed in the trunk, he’d play courses along the way, and on the greens, surrounded by friends and laughter, some of his happiest moments.
More than his service or work, Bob will be remembered by his children and descendants as a man who—through the seasons of his life—grew in wisdom, humor, and heart, coming to understand the deeper meaning of love and family.
Private family services will be held.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Belleville Area Humane Society. They will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover St., New Baden, IL 62265, who is serving the family.
