Richard V. Hacker, age 90, of Albers, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2025 at his home. He was born July 21, 1935 in Bartelso, the son of Edward and Ida (Vandeloo) Hacker. He married Marcie Schrage on June 30, 1962 in St. Rose and she survives in Albers.
Alongside his devoted wife of 63 years, Rich is survived by his three daughters: Teresa (Bryan) Sudholt, Tina Simpson (fiancé Donnie Torres), and Donna (David) Finlay; eight cherished grandchildren: Tony (Sarah) Sudholt, Liz Sudholt, Jacob Sudholt (fiancé Alyssa Curran), Haley (Thomas) Baugh, Sam (Dakotah) Simpson, Cullen Simpson (Krista Miller), Anna Finlay, and Kiera Finlay; and two great-grandchildren: Layton and Palmer Sudholt. He is additionally survived by three sisters: Loretta Trevelline, Doris Tadlock, Mary Kampwerth; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Romy Schrage, Mike Schrage, Ed and Agnes Schrage, Sister Angela Schrage, Barb and Frank Zaloga.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents, son, John Hacker (infancy), siblings: Wilbur, Robert, Eddie Jr (Joyce), Joe (June), and Alvin Hacker, and Dolly (Melvin) Von Alst; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joe Trevelline, Bill Tadlock, John Kampwerth, Jeanette and Paul Benhoff, Sister Mary Ann Schrage, and Ray Schrage.
After two years serving our country, Rich enjoyed 42 years working at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows. After his retirement, he kept busy volunteering on community projects and helping others. Some of his favorite hobbies through the years were playing ball, cheering on the Cardinals, playing with the grandkids, and gardening.
A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 18th, 2025, at St. Bernard Church in Albers with Rev. Matt Elie officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Albers.
Friends may call from 8:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at St. Bernard Church in Albers.
