Paul William Lammers, age 75, of Beckemeyer passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Paul was born in Alton, Illinois on December 24, 1941 the son of Vincent and Loretta (Stoltz) Lammers. He married Evelyn Holthaus on November 27, 1963 and she survives in Beckemeyer.
In addition to his wife and mother, Paul is survived by his children: Leroy (Lynn) Lammers, Leonard Lammers, Loren (Amy) Lammers, Lonnie (Missy) Lammers, Lyle (Lisa) Lammers, and Lorna (Trevor) Hubbard, all of Beckemeyer; his grandchildren: Lance (Trista) Hellige of Carlyle, Lindsay (Dirk) Boulware of Bartelso, Laura (Geoff) Sprock of Trenton, Brad Marshall of Beckemeyer, Larissa (Trent) Halstead of Breese, Meghan Marshall of Beckemeyer, Dylan Lammers and special friend Clarissa Ribbing of Vienna, IL, Kevin Wurm, Miranda Lammers of Beckemeyer, Logan Lammers and special friend Paige Langenhorst of Beckemeyer, Dallas and special friend Taylor Williams of Vienna, IL, Landyn Hubbard and special friend Tabitha Powell of Beckemeyer, Megan Lammers and special friend Ethan Cox of Beckemeyer, Addison Lammers, Madi Lammers, and Bennett Lammers all of Beckemeyer; great-grandchildren: Sara & Jaxson Boulware, Kayelynn and Nora Sprock, Liam Hellige-Koetting, Bella Marshall, Gabriella Hellige, an eighth great grandbaby expected in February; three brothers: Carl (Helen) Lammers of Highland, Mark (Sheila) Lammers of New Mexico, and David (Diane) Lammers of Breese; his sisters-in-law: Mary Beth (Dwight) Schubert and Marcie (John) Dieters all of Beckemeyerm, and Barb (Gene) Henkle of Carlyle, as well as his beloved pet Teddy.
Mr. Lammers was preceded in death by his father, a brother, Wayne Lammers and a sister, Joan Ellen Kleiboeker; a grandson, Joseph Lammers, his in laws: Vincent (Henrietta) Holthaus and Herman Deiters.
Paul was a member of St. Anthony Parish in Beckemeyer. He was the oldest of six children, after his father was injured in a farming accident, Paul went to work fulltime to help care for his brothers and sisters. He retired from General Motors Company after 30 plus years of service. He was then the Wade Township Road Commissioner from 1999 until 2009. He also served on the Beckemeyer-Wade Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Beckemeyer with Fr. Chuck Tuttle officiating. Interment will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 from 4 until 8:00 pm and on Wednesday from 8 until 9:30 am at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.
Expressions of sympathy made in Paul’s memory are suggested to the Beckemeyer-Wade Volunteer Fire Department or Beckemeyer Community Development Club (BCDC) and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.
