Obituary

Nancy Mae Lowe, age 84, of Carlyle, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese. She was born on December 27, 1941, in Keyesport, the daughter of Melvin and Mable (Zobrist) Hoffman. Nancy was united in marriage to Gene D. Lowe, Sr., on February 28, 1959, in Pinckneyville, Illinois. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband on January 13, 1998.

Nancy is survived by her loving children: Gene "Spook" Lowe, Jr. and wife Kris, Asa Lowe, and Cassie and wife Dot Winters, all of Carlyle. She cherished her grandchildren: Justin Lowe, Aaron (Amber) Lowe, Cody Lowe, Colby Lowe, and Emily, Lainey, and Tara Mollet; along with her great-grandchildren: Delaney and Fisher Lowe, Weston and Leo Hollie, and Luca Turner. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce Hempen, and her in-laws: Marlene Hoffman, Edna Lowe, Gary Lowe, Bernard Lowe, and Ruth Ann Hopper.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by her daughter, Tara Lowe; her son, Leroy Lowe; as well as her siblings: Wayne, Richard, Elvin, David, and Kenneth Hoffmann. She also mourned the loss of her in-laws: Ruth Hoffmann, Roberta Hoffman, Laverne Lowe, Bernadette "Bernie" Lowe, and Gerald "Jerry" Hopper.

A devout member of the First Baptist Church in Carlyle, Nancy found joy in gardening, sewing, and working on puzzles. She retired from DeMoulin Bros. and Company in 2001. Above all, Nancy adored her family and treasured the time spent with her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the First Baptist Church in Carlyle, with Rev. Scott Broughton officiating. Burial will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle, and on Tuesday from 8:00 until 9:45 AM at the First Baptist Church.

In honor of Nancy's memory, memorials are suggested for the First Baptist Church in Carlyle and can be sent to the church or to Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
