Matthew Dale Edler, aged 47, of Hoffman, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026, at his residence. Born in Centralia, Illinois, on September 7, 1978, he was the cherished son of Dale and Carol Edler (née Brammeier).

Matthew is survived by his beloved daughters, Faith Edler (fiancé Zion Chavez) and Grace Edler; and his granddaughter, Luna Chavez. He will be deeply missed by his parents, Dale and Carol, and his siblings, Melinda Frerker (husband Tony) and Josh Edler (wife Kristen). His nieces and nephews—Jacob Kampwerth, Lexi Edler, Noah Frerker, and Chase Frerker—along with numerous aunts, uncles, and dear friends, fondly remember him.

Matt was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He spent much of his life on the family farm. He found joy in the great outdoors, particularly hunting, and was a master on the barbecue. His passions included horror films and playing his guitars, of which he had an impressive collection; he was an avid fan of Ice Nine Kills music. Above all, Matthew treasured the time spent with his family.

Funeral services will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hoffman, conducted by Pastor Brett Jones. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service, from 9:00 to 10:45 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested for his family, payable to Faith Edler, and can be sent to the church or Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
