Maryann A. Grapperhaus, 94, of St. Rose, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese, IL. She was born on November 4, 1930, in Aviston, Illinois, the daughter of Henry & Rosa, nee Holtkamp, Lohman. She married Rem Grapperhaus on April 24, 1951 in Aviston and he preceded her in death on October 3, 1989.

For many years, Maryann proudly shared her talent as a floral designer at Mioux Florist, where her artistry brought joy to countless individuals and families. Her work was not merely a profession but a passion that allowed her to express her vibrant spirit and connect with her community.

Maryann found profound joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time outdoors, often sitting on her patio to watch the sun set. An enthusiastic gardener, she took great delight in nurturing her plants and watching the various birds, particularly the purple martens, cardinals, and hummingbirds that frequented her garden. She was known to enjoy riding her golf cart and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers. Her grandchildren were a constant source of pride and joy, and she was an enthusiastic supporter of their activities and achievements.

Maryann is survived by her loving daughter, Joan "Joanie" (Ralph) Goebel of St. Rose, as well as her grandchildren, Patrick (Kim) Goebel, Christopher (Maddie) Goebel, and Jay (Jackie) Goebel. She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren: Logan (fiancé, Chelsie Anderson) Goebel, Lilyann Goebel, Isabella Goebel, Nikhil Goebel, Nina Goebel, Kiran Goebel, Bennett Goebel, Dorothy "Dot" Goebel, Griffin Goebel, and Cullen Goebel. Additionally, she leaves behind her brother-in-law, Delmar Knebel.

In addition to her parents and husband, Maryann was preceded in death by her beloved son, Joseph Grapperhaus, and great-granddaughter, Remi Goebel. She was also greeted in the next life by her siblings, Alfred (Helen) Lohman, Arthur (Pauline) Lohman, George (Monica) Lohman, Walter (Burt) Lohman, Anthony (Florence) Lohman, Eugene & Cleophia Lohman, Leola (Ed) Korte, Jeanette (Leo) Wolters, Harold (Delores) Lohman, Marcella (Harold) Netemeyer, Dorella Lohman, and Pauline (Don) Bolk. Furthermore, she reunites with her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry & Catherine Grapperhaus, as well as her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: John "Boots" & Irene Grapperhaus, Regina & Henry Buehne, Louis & Elvira Grapperhaus, Frank & Dorothy Grapperhaus, Veronica & Orville Wagner, Loretta Knebel, Clara & Jesse Knebel, Veronica Lohman, and Elizabeth Lohman.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 4, 2025, from 8:30 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Rose Catholic Church in Saint Rose, IL.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 4, 2025 at St. Rose Catholic Church with Rev. Ed Schaefer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery.

Memorials made in memory of Maryann may be made to St. Rose Parish or the St. Rose Fire Department and will be received at church or Nordike Funeral Home, 150 N. Clinton St., Breese, IL 62230 who is serving the family.
