Mark William Burnett, 59, of Carterville, passed away Friday, June 19, 2026, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born on March 20, 1967, the son of William Dean and Edna, nee Short, Burnett. He married Cindy Clark on July 11, 1998, in Branson, MO, and she survives in Carterville.

Mark is survived by his wife, Cindy; his mother, Edna Nalefski; his children, Zakery and Nick; his grandchildren, Brayden (BB), Jazzy (Princess Jazzy Pants), Lana, Kai, Lily, and Brooke; his brother, Larry Burnett; his mother-in-law, JoAnn Clark; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Debbie & Rick King and Sarah Clark; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Brett Williamson, and his father-in-law, Larry Clark.

Mark was a factory worker and worked for many years at Rail Bearing, Rockwell, and Penn Aluminum. He enjoyed fishing and watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Denver Broncos, and NASCAR. Above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from noon until 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 27, 2026, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 pm at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.

Memorial donations may be made to the family or the American Diabetes Association and will be accepted at Nordike Funeral Home, 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
