Linda L. Younger, 78, of Collinsville, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at her daughter's home in Breese. She was born on September 22, 1946, in Cahokia, the daughter of Michael and Betty, nee Ledbetter, Janik. She married Wayne Younger June 20, 1964 in Monsanto and he survives in Collinsville.

Throughout her career, Linda dedicated herself to nurturing the minds of young children as a teacher’s aide at Holy Cross Lutheran School in Collinsville and later working at a daycare. Her passion for teaching extended beyond the classroom; she found joy in watching her students thrive and grow.

Linda was not only an educator; she was a person who cherished the moments spent with her family. She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, such as watching her favorite soap opera, General Hospital, and engaging in heartfelt conversations with her loved ones. Her devotion to her family was unparalleled, and she took tremendous pride in being a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Wayne Younger, with whom she shared many years of companionship. She is also survived by her two daughters, Cheri (fiance, James Winkelman) Carlson and Carol Younger, who were sources of immense pride and joy in her life. Linda's legacy will continue through her grandchildren, Brittany (Kyle) Barr, Megan Marsh, Jacob Carlson, and Nick Winkelman, along with her four great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Matthew Barr, and Amelia and Lincoln Marsh. Linda is also survived by her siblings: Charlene Prosise, Barry (Charlotte) Gordon, Lenny Gordon, Mike Janik, Jr., and Louis Janik.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Younger.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 304 South Street, Collinsville, IL. with the Rev. Dr. Dale Meyer officiating.

In lieu of flowers and other gifts, memorials may be made to Evelyn's House and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 150 N. Clinton Street, Breese, IL 62230 who is serving the family.
