Lavern H. Jasper of Beckemeyer passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the age of 78 years. Lavern was born in Wade Township/Clinton County, IL on November 4, 1936, the son of Louis and Lucille (Grayling) Jasper.
Lavern is survived by his long time companion: Mary Ritchey of Beckemeyer; his “children”: Debra Varel and husband Mark, Tracy Mueller and husband Tim, Barbara Hagen and husband Marvin, Victoria Eilers and husband Dale, and Fred Ritchey and wife Kelly; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; a sister: Marilyn Zobrist of Highland; and nieces and nephews: Brad D. Kohlbrecher, Travis Zobrist and wife Aubrey, Susan Ferguson and husband Fred, Shelley Smith, and John McRoy and wife Shelly.
Mr. Jasper was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Catherine McRoy; brothers-in-law: David Kohlbrecher and Leonard Zobrist; and grandchildren: Eric Varel and Rebecca Hagen.
Lavern served in the United States Army and was a member of the Holthaus-Kampwerth American Legion Post 1227 of Beckemeyer. He was a retired 60 year member of Laborers and Hodcarriers Local 551 of Carlyle and a member of the Beckemeyer Washer Club. He was an active member of organizations, selling raffle tickets to everyone!
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle with Father Chuck Tuttle officiating. The interment will follow at Beckemeyer Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 5 to 8:00 P.M. or on Saturday, February 14, 2015 from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice.
