Kenneth C. McLaughlin, aged 63, of New Baden, peacefully passed away at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in O'Fallon on Wednesday, November 5, 2025. Born on October 1, 1962, in Neptune, New Jersey, he was the cherished son of George and Barbara McLaughlin. He united in marriage with Robin McCormick in Freehold, New Jersey, on January 25, 1985, sharing a loving bond for 40 years.
Ken is remembered fondly by his devoted wife, as well as their beloved children: Christopher and Meghan McLaughlin of Alaska, Nicole and Robert Fetterer of St. Louis, and John and Rachel McLaughlin of Sedalia, Missouri. His grandchildren, Mark and Lorelei McLaughlin, were the shining lights in his life. He was also excited to welcome his soon to be grandchild this coming May. Ken is also survived by his siblings, George and Linda McLaughlin, Robin and Thomas Beams, and Michael and Carol McLaughlin, all from Freehold, New Jersey, along with a circle of close friends who greatly valued his companionship.
A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Ken has dedicated himself to public service as the Chief of the New Baden Fire Department since 2018, with over 20 years of experience as a firefighter. A member of the American Legion, The Knights of Columbus, and an active member of St George Parish. He had a great passion for the outdoors, often enjoying hunting and fishing trips with his sons and friends. An enthusiastic supporter of the New York Mets and New York Giants, Ken found his true joy in spending time with his grandchildren, who brought immense happiness to his life. He was deeply loved and respected by many.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.
