John Inman Southard

John Inman Southard, 65, of New Baden, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese, IL. He was born in Geneva, IL, on December 24, 1958, the son of Henry "Hank" and Edna, nee Fletcher, Southard. He married Nell Rose Whitecotton on August 7, 1993 in Nashville, IL and she preceded him in death on August 3, 2018.

In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his father, Henry "Hank" Southard; and a brother-in-law, Bill Latham. 

John is survived by his mother, Edna Southard; his son, Jacob "Hank" Southard; his daughter, Katelyn Southard; siblings Ralph & Dixie Southard, Pam Latham, Leslie & Greg Sweet, and Richard & Deborah Southard; and his sister-in-law Cindy Adams. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

John was a retired insurance adjuster for State Farm. In his free time, John enjoyed hunting, camping, racing, working on and restoring classic cars and most of all spending time with his beloved family.

Services to honor and remember John's life will be held at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden.

 A visitation will take place on April 16 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on April 17 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Partners for Pets or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be received at the funeral home.
