Parmenter
February 18, 1948 – February 3, 2026
MSgt. John R. Parmenter, USAF, RET., 77, went peacefully to meet Jesus on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, surrounded by his immediate family, at his residence. He was born February 18, 1948 in Framingham, MA, the son of Gilbert and Ruth, nee Arcudi, Parmenter. He married Victoria Wells on September 11, 1971 at Martha and Mary Chapel in Sudbury, MA.
John is survived by his wife of 54 years, Victoria (Wells) Parmenter; children Alison (Cary) Cremeens, and Christopher (Debra) Parmenter; three grandsons: Logan Parmenter, Ethan Parmenter, and Daniel Cremeens. Also surviving are brother Jerry (Carolyn) Parmenter, sister Marilyn Simm, sister Darlene (Fred) Caira, and sister Bernadette (Ed) Daniels, sister in law Suzanne Parmenter, brother in law Richard (Donna) Wells, sister in law Becky (Bret) Roebling, as well as 15 nieces and 11 nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister Cynthia Grimm, brother Wayne Parmenter, niece Sherri Bolduc, and nephew Zachary Wells.
John was an avid golfer and wood worker. He enjoyed those hobbies to the fullest and made many memorial wooden trains for family and friends. He loved Jesus with his whole being and wrote many messages of encouragement to the body of Christ.
John requested a celebration of life in lieu of a tradition memorial service. The service will be held on the Gulf coast over the summer.
Memorials may be made to Vietnam Veterans of America, the Gary Sinise Foundation, or America’s Vet Dogs and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover St., New Baden, IL 62265 who is serving the family.
