Janet S Berkemann

Janet S. Berkemann, nee Osborn, 60, of New Baden, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Belleville. She was born on December 11, 1965, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, the daughter of Dean and Kathy, nee Bishop, Osborn. She married Paul Berkemann January 19, 2008 in St. Charles, Missouri and he survives in New Baden.

Janet will be remembered for the joy she brought to the people around her and for the warmth she created wherever family and friends gathered. She was a member of Kime Baptist Church in Kime, Missouri. She loved family gatherings and found special happiness in being present for the moments that mattered most. Janet was known for photographing every event she was part of, preserving memories for those she loved. She also enjoyed hosting memorable parties, playing games of every kind, and sharing laughter with others. Her tender heart showed especially in farewells, as goodbyes often moved her deeply.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Berkemann; her mother, Kathy Osborn of Greenville, Missouri, her brother, Dennis and Renee Osborn of Greenville, Missouri; and her sister, Deana and Rick Janes of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She is also survived by Paul’s family, including Michael and Cheryl Berkemann of Swansea, Rosemary and Gary Trimble of Trenton, Herman and Agnes Berkemann of Carlyle, and Daniel and Carol Berkemann of Waterloo.

Janet’s memory will also be cherished by her nieces and nephews: Brittney and Jordan Ramage, Jace and Alyssa Osborn, Elle Janes, Fletcher Janes, Brian and Kayla Berkemann, Matthew and Kelli Trimble, Christopher Trimble, Alicia and Will Sellers, Natalia Trimble, Jennifer and Joshua Varel, and Jason and Amanda Berkemann. She is further survived by her great-nephews, Hawkins Ramage, Jaxson Varel, Jase Varel, Owen Berkemann, Walter Berkemann, Floyd Berkemann, Bernard Berkemann, and Hudson Sellers, and her great-nieces, Marlowe Osborn, Emma Haller, Abigail Haller, Ivrey Berkemann, and Dorothy Berkemann. May the love she shared, the celebrations she hosted, and the memories she carefully captured continue to bring comfort to all who knew her.

In addition to her father, Dean Osborn, Janet was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bernard and Alice Berkemann.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden and again on Saturday, August 29, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026 at Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden.

Memorials made in memory of Janet may be made to the New Baden Sons of the American Legion, the New Baden Fire Department, or the New Baden Lions Club and will be received at the church or Nordike Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover St., New Baden, IL.
