James "Jim" H. Korte, 79, of New Baden, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at his home. He was born October 25, 1945 in Breese, the son of Fred and Marcella, nee Hilmes, Korte. He married Judy Meyer May 3, 1969 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Trenton and she survives in New Baden.
Jim leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, Nick (Carmalee) Korte of New Baden and Amanda (Eli) Tresler of Trenton. He was a proud grandfather to Megan (Reed) Riechmann, Joshua Korte (and special friend Alhana Hargraves), Trent Korte, Seth Tresler, Bria Tresler, and Cora Tresler, as well as a great-grandfather to Boyer Riechmann. He is also survived by his siblings, Darlene (Steve) Kerchner, Gary (Pat) Korte, and Randy Korte.
Jim was preceded in death by his beloved siblings, Tom Korte, Glen Korte, Marilyn Korte, and Fred Korte.
Jim dedicated over 30 years of his career as a sales manager for Gundlach Machine Company in Belleville. He found joy in fishing, visiting the beach, and camping. Jim served as a campground host at Washington County State Lake for more than eight years, sharing his passion for the outdoors with many.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden.
Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden with Pastor Stephen Stark officiating. Burial will follow at Mascoutah City Cemetery in Mascoutah.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made in memory of Jim may be made to the Zion United Church of Christ Building Fund or the American Cancer Society - World Wide Technology Hope Lodge in St. Louis, MO. and will be received at the funeral home.
