James J. "Hotdog" Meyer, age 69, of Troy, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. James was born May 17, 1956 in Breese, IL, the son of Paul & MaryAnn, nee Kaulig, Meyer. He married Carma Kuhn on November 22, 1985 in Highland, IL and she survives in Troy, MO.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his siblings, Tom Meyer, Rodney (Friend, Gerlene) Meyer, Greg (Deb) Meyer, Ray Meyer, Sharon (Dennis Dunnill) Frank, Janet (Dan) Grapperhaus, Mary (Steve) Strake, Paul (Gina) Meyer and Barb (Randy) Ratermann; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Shawn Kuhn, Shelley Jones, Kelly Obryan, and Carla Rohan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eldon & Evelyn Kuhn; a sister in infancy, Kathy Ann; and a nephew, Brent Grapperhaus.
James was a member of the U.A.W. Union. He loved riding his motorcycle, watching the Kansas City Chiefs play, collecting beer steins, sitting on his deck and watching the deer roam in his backyard, and spending time with his family.
He worked the curb service at Wally's in Breese where he was given the name "Hotdog" by Wally Kune. He enjoyed getting to know a lot of people while working there. He later worked at General Motors and retired from there in 2020.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at Nordike Funeral Home in Breese.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Nordike Funeral Home in Breese.
In lieu of flowers, plants, and other memorial items, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the family's choosing, checks payable to Carma Meyer and will be received at the funeral home.
