Heather M. Huelsmann passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at age 50, at her home in Aviston. She was born on September 29, 1975, in Highland to Daniel and Marilyn (Eilering) Markus. She was a loving wife, daughter, and friend to many.
On July 7, 2001, Heather married Kurt Huelsmann at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston, and they shared 25 beautiful years together. She is survived by her devoted husband, Kurt; her beloved mother, Marilyn Markus; and her extended family, including dear brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Nancy Huelsmann, Vince Huelsmann, Alice Dien and husband Mark, Duane Huelsmann, Henry Huelsmann, Mary Huelsmann, Carol Oneste and husband Frank, Paul Huelsmann and wife Jean, and Joe Huelsmann and wife Julie; as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Heather was preceded in death by her father, Daniel R. Markus, and her parents-in-law, James and Emma Huelsmann.
She was a dedicated speech pathologist. Heather was passionate about helping children and made a positive impact in many local schools. Her love for animals was evident through her volunteer work at the Clinton County Humane Society and the joy she found with her pets Peggy, Lucy, Nina, and Roxy. She also treasured traveling with Kurt and moments spent with friends.
Heather's life will be celebrated with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston, with visitation from 9:00 AM until 10:45 AM. She will be laid to rest at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston.
In honor of Heather, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice and can be received at the church or Nordike Funeral Home at 150 North Clinton Street, Breese, IL 62230.
