Clara Anna Ballard

Clara Anna Ballard, 105, of New Baden, died Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Trenton Village. She was born August 25, 1917 in New Baden, the daughter of Frank and Martha, nee John, Hoffmann.

Clara is survived by her daughter, Martha Flynn; step-grandson, Brian (Enan) Flynn; step-great-grandchildren, Andrew Flynn and Katie Shae Flynn; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, George Flynn; and her siblings, Ida, Gustav, Frank, Fred, Paul, Henry, Emma, Carl, Otto, Max, and Erwin.

Mrs. Ballard was a cafeteria manager for the Wesclin Elementary/Jr. High School for over 27 years. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden. Clara enjoyed visiting with family, quilting, playing cards, traveling, and collecting thimbles, music boxes, and lighthouses.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden. Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of services on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden.

Memorials may be made to the Zion UCC Building Fund for the Sunday School Wing or to the Memorial Fund and will be received at the church or Nordike Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover St., New Baden, IL 62265 who is serving the family.
