Chris M. Hammond, aged 46, of Carlyle, passed away at his home on Monday, August 3, 2026. Born on November 9, 1979, in Greenville, IL, he was the beloved son of Carlos Hammond, Jr. and Denise Linton.

Chris leaves behind his cherished sons, Chase and Ryker Hammond; his loving parents, Denise Linton Hammond and Carlos "JR" Hammond and Penny. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, including Don "Bone" Linton and his wife Darlene, Carla Sue Elam and her husband Greg, Raymond Hammond, Gloria Hammond, and James Hammond and his wife Candi. He will be fondly remembered by numerous cousins and friends.

Preceding Chris in death were his maternal grandparents, James and Shirley Linton, his paternal grandparents, Carlos and Raylene Hammond, and two uncles, Michael and Jeffrey Hammond.

Chris began his career at Pollmann Electric, dedicating 18 years to the company. He was a valued member of the maintenance team at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese. Outside of work, Chris cherished time with his children and enjoyed golfing.

Funeral services will take place at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle, officiated by Rev. Jason McIntosh. Burial will follow at McKendree Chapel Cemetery in Keyesport.

Visitation is scheduled from 3:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, and from 8:00 AM until the time of services on Wednesday at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.

In memory of Chris, memorial contributions are suggested for his children's future, payable to Carlos Hammond Jr., or to McKendree Chapel Cemetery. These will be accepted at Nordike Funeral Home, located at 740 Fairfax Street, Carlyle, IL 62231.
