Charles "Chuck" R. Morris known to friends as Harley Charlie, 69, of New Baden, passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 2, 2026, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Shiloh. He was born on June 12, 1956, in East St. Louis, IL, the son of John Morris and Romelda "Ronnie" Morris nee Grosenheider. He married Margaret "Peggie" Hubert on May 9, 1981 at Mascoutah, IL and she survives in New Baden.
Chuck worked as a Coal Miner for 18 years. After leaving the Coal mining business, Chuck continued to be a hard worker on multiple construction based jobs. He was a man that greatly enjoyed working with his hands, often spending time woodworking and building things for his friend's and family. Chuck loved to be outside, whether he was working in his yard or spending the days on his porch surrounded by family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his beloved children: Lissa Spular of Missouri; James "JD" (Tara) Morris of North Pole, Alaska; Kristin Morris of Denver, Colorado; Nathan Morris of New Baden, Illinois; and Jessica Morris of New Baden, Illinois. His beloved grandchildren: Tyler (Nick) Windsor, Joseph Schank, Teagan Rindt, Harley Morris, Madison Morris and Cameron Rindt and beloved great-grandchildren Leila Hall, Lennon Hall, and Audrey Windsor. He is also survived by his sister Pam (Bill) Lawson and brother James (Donna) Morris and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at the 1st Baptist Church of New Baden. A celebration of life/birthday party will be held at the New Baden American Legion following the service.
Memorials made in memory of Chuck will be received at the church or Nordike Funeral Home, 15 East Hanover Street, New Baden, Illinois 62265 who is assisting the family.
