Carl F. Brammeier

April 25, 1940 — September 1, 2025

Carlyle

Carl Frederich Brammeier, age 85, of Carlyle, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025, at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese IL, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 25, 1940, in Sandoval, Illinois, to Emil and Quinta (Knolhoff) Brammeier. On October 3, 1964, he united in marriage with Louise Selma Hanenberger in Hoyleton, Illinois, and together they created a rich tapestry of love and companionship over the span of 60 years.

Carl's legacy continues through his loving family, which includes three children: Gary Brammeier of Sandoval, Karen Borcherding and her husband Steven of Iuka, and Danny Brammeier and his wife Motika of Hoffman. He cherished his five grandchildren: Sophia and Ethan Borcherding and Curtis, Cortney and Carter Brammeier. He is also survived by his sister, Julia Karmeier, sisters-in-law Doris Brammeier and Shirley Hanenberger, and brother-in-law Carl Hanenberger.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings: Bernice and her husband Wilbert Zimmermann, Eileen and her husband Bill Kleiboeker, Edmond and his wife Alrene Brammeier, and Delbert Brammeier. He also mournfully remembered his in-laws: Ralph Karmeier,  Norma and her husband Jim Lovel, Oliver and his wife Mary Hanenberger, and Ronnie Hanenberger.

A devoted truck driver and mechanic for most of his life, Carl took pride in owning and operating C&L Truck Service for over 20 years before his retirement. After retirement he remained actively engaged with his community, contributing his time and efforts as a former trustee, elder, and head usher at Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle. He also worked for Carlyle Township after his retirement and stayed active helping others. Carl had a passion for restoring old International Farmall Tractors, bringing joy to himself and others through this hobby. He looked forward to the annual tractor drive at the American Farm Heritage Museum in Greenville each year. A man who thrived on helping others, Carl's loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
