Betty V. Voegele, a cherished mother, sister, and friend, was born on June 16, 1944, in Highland, Illinois. She peacefully passed away on August 29, 2025, at Aviston Countryside Manor, surrounded by her loving family.
Betty grew up in Highland and New Douglas, IL. Betty graduated in 1962 from Highland High School. She started her professional life at the Alton Box Board in Highland, later transitioning to work at the library of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE). As her children grew older, Betty worked in a house painting business. In her later years, she served as a custodian at Highland Supply, where she worked diligently until her retirement.
Throughout her life, Betty cultivated fond memories of adventures and experiences shared with friends and family. She loved to tell stories about her travels, which included notable trips to world fairs in her youth and delightful excursions to Florida with cherished girlfriends. In later years, Betty would travel across country to visit her sons and their families. These memories reflected her deep love and appreciation for her family and her friends.
Beyond her career and travels, Betty found joy in pursuing hobbies that delighted her heart. She had a profound love for sewing and reading, immersing herself in stories and creating beauty through crafts. In retirement, she devoted time to cross-stitching, producing lovely creations with counted cross stitch. Her passion for hummingbirds and collecting snowmen was evident as she displayed many throughout her home.
Betty took immense pride in being an unwavering supporter of her family. Betty’s greatest commitment and her great pride were her sons. She was always encouraging and supporting her boys in school, sports, and life. She was a constant presence at every game and activity, cheering on her sons—Jeff and Corey—through baseball, basketball, and track. This love and support extended to her grandchildren, including Kayla, Dylan, Elizabeth, Katherine, Joshua, and David.
She is survived by her devoted sons, Jeff Voegele and Corey Voegele; daughter-in-law, Lisa Voegele; daughter-in-law, Sue Voegele; as well as her treasured grandchildren, Kayla Barnes, Dylan Voegele, Elizabeth Voegele, Katherine Voegele, Joshua Voegele, and David Voegele, her sister, Karen Kuhl and her niece, Kim Kilcauski.
Betty is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Walter and Harriet Collman, and her husband, Donald Voegele.
Betty V. Voegele leaves behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and creativity. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends, cherished in memories and celebrated through the stories she so lovingly shared.
A celebration of life will be held September 6th, 1-3PM at the American Legion Post 439, 1130 New Trenton Rd, Highland, Illinois 62249.
