Carlyle Township Cemetery
11:00 am - 12:00 pm
Bernard "Bummy" G. Lowe, aged 82, of Carlyle, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Born on October 30, 1943, he was the son of Henry and Amelia (Lee) Lowe.
Bernard is lovingly remembered by his brother Gary Lowe, sister Ruth Ann Hopper, and numerous nieces and nephews including Diane (Leo) LaRose, Brian (Connie) Lowe, Gene (Kris) "Spook" Lowe, Jr., Asa Lowe, Cassie (Dot) Winters, Candice “Candy” (Ben) Maxey, Heath (Molly) Lowe, Heidi (Brad) Schroeder, and Lance (April) Lowe; Special nephew and niece Landon and Lorelai as well as many other great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Laverne Lowe, Roy Lowe, Leroy Lowe; sisters-in-law, Bernadette and Nancy Lowe; brother-in-law, Gerald “Jerry” Hopper; and several nieces and nephews.
Bummy was cherished for his generous heart and willingness to help others, and his heart of gold. He was known for his love of tinkering, especially with small engines, and was a big fan of wrestling and demolition derbies. If he caught you at the right moment, you might experience some of his wrestling moves. Above all, Bummy treasured his family; he was the prime example of a family man without a family of his own, which made his nieces and nephews so special to him. Always ready with a smile and a thoughtful token to brighten their days. His warmth and kindness leave a legacy among all who knew him.
Funeral services for Bernard and his brother, Gary Lowe, will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle, with Pastor Scott Broughton officiating. The burials will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, and again on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 10:00 AM until the time of services at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.
