Barbara M. Weissenborn

Barbara M. Weissenborn, 74, of New Baden, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Aviston Countryside Manor after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was born on September 3, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Estelle, nee Mazer, Wronka. She married Frank M. Weissenborn on May 22, 1982 in St. Louis, Missouri and he preceded her in death on June 16, 2002.

She is survived by her children: Glenn Weissenborn of New Baden, Michelle Walters (Greg) Kuhl of Nashville, Frank (Donna) Weissenborn of New Baden, Veronica Walters (Al) Hund of New Baden, and Randal (Denee) Weissenborn of Pinckneyville. Her beloved grandchildren: Katie (Travis) Newman, John Hund, Drew Kuhl, Valerie Hund, Lacey Weissenborn, Jill Kuhl, and Frank Weissenborn, along with her great-grandson, Ryker Newman. Her in-laws, June and Tim Kenny, and her niece, Janet (Mike) Freund.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister, Jane Trzcinski.

Barbara dedicated over 25 years of service to St. Louis University Hospital as a registered nurse. She was supportive of education and always encouraged others to keep learning & growing.

Barbara took great joy in watching her husband participating in trap shooting as they traveled around the Midwest. On occasion, Barbara enjoyed playing a slot machine and would visit beloved friends, Ike & Sandy, in Las Vegas. She loved her coffee and newspapers and above all spending time with her grandkids; and in March, Barbara was proud to become a great grandmother/ Buzia.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Nordike Funeral Home in New Baden followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.

Memorials made in memory of Barbara may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the funeral home.
