Anita L. Peters, 87, of Trenton, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Memorial Hospital in Shiloh. She was born on February 27, 1938, in New Baden, the daughter of Walter T. and Lucille, nee Galley, Davis. She married Jerome Peters October 20, 1962 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Belleville and he survives in Trenton.

Before her retirement, Anita was a bank teller at the Bank of New Baden, where she served with great diligence and warmth, leaving an indelible mark on those she worked with and the patrons she assisted.

She was not only committed to her professional life but was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Trenton, where her faith played a central role in her life. She was a valued member of the Eastern Star, contributing her time and energy to this organization and the community, demonstrating her spirit of service and philanthropy.

Anita found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in cooking and baking, activities that brought her immense happiness and allowed her to share love with those around her. Her culinary delights were cherished at family gatherings and special occasions, creating lasting memories for her loved ones.

Anita is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Jerome Peters; her daughter, Sheri (fiance, Michael Shaw) Gray; her grandsons, Blake Gray, Jarrett (Grace) Gray, and James (Peyton) Gray; her sister, Judy (Gary) Baehr; her nieces, Jackie (Jack) Provenzole and Laura Romine Ringler; and her great-niece, Maren Ringler.

She joins in eternal rest her parents; her brother, John L. Davis; her sister, Marianna Romine; and her niece, Kelly Prifti, who will undoubtedly welcome her with open arms.

Visitation to honor Anita will be held on Monday, August 18, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church located at 3324 Old U.S. Hwy 50 in Trenton, Illinois. This will be followed by a memorial service at 10:30 AM, with a burial at Greenmount Cemetery in New Baden to end the services.

Memorials made in memory of Anita may be made to the First United Methodist Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or to the charity of the donor's choice and will be received at church or Nordike Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover St., New Baden, IL 62265 who is serving the family.
