Agnes G. White, age 84, formerly of Hoffman, IL, died at Evercare of Breese on June 8, 2026. Agnes was born December 30, 1941, daughter of Alfred G. and Catherine T. (Walker) Schneider on the family farm north of Vergennes IL. She married John H. White on Sept. 9, 1978, and he preceded her in death March 21, 1999.
She is survived by her sisters Josephine “Jo” and husband Monroe “Whitey” White of Troy, IL, Sister Edith Schneider, PHJC, of Donaldson IN, and Clara and husband Roger Locher of Sabetha KS; her step-daughter-in-law June White, stepson and daughter-in-law Bob and Mary White. numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Adolph (Sonny) Schneider and wife Dolores, Mary and husband Olen Crow, Rose and husband Carl “Jim” Szczeblewski, Philip Schneider, Alfred Schneider, Catherine “Cathy” and husband William Stutz, stepson Branson White, and her husband John’s brother and sister.
Agnes was employed at Moran/Wee Walker Shoe Factory in Carlyle for several years; then worked at Murray Developmental Center, Centralia, IL in the Business Office for 30- ½ years when she retired.
She was a member of St. Anthony Church in Beckemeyer and St. Ann Sodality and of Catholic League, and served in various ministries including lector, Eucharistic Minister, Usher and bellringer. She was a generous person in serving family and friends when she knew help was needed. She volunteered with various organizations, including Project Linus, American Red Cross, pro-life organizations and as a member of the Veterans Tribute Committee at KC.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony Church in Beckemeyer, with Fr. Chuck Tuttle officiating. Immediately following the funeral Mass all are invited to go directly to the American Legion in Beckemeyer for the funeral luncheon. Interment will be at Watson Cemetery in Watson, IL, at 3:00 PM.
Friends may call from 4:30 until 8:00 PM on Thursday, June 11, 2026, and from 9:00 until 10:30 AM on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.
Memorials may be made to Pregnancy Care Clinic in Salem/Centralia, Clinton County Citizens for Life, Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ in Donaldson IN, PHJC Mexico Ministry, St. Anthony Church, or Veterans Tribute at Kaskaskia College, and will be accepted by the Nordike Funeral Home.
