Robert “Bob” Frank Usselmann, 86, of Aviston, died Thursday, March 26, 2015 at his home. He was born October 6, 1928 in Germantown, son of Frank and Catherine (Norrenberns) Usselmann. He married Betty Ribbing on May 22, 1957 at St. Rose Catholic Church in St. Rose and she survives in Aviston. In addition to his wife he is survived by five daughters, Sue (Tony) Jansen of Breese, Barb (special friend, Lenny Kalmer) Alexander of Aviston, Lynn (Kurt) Ripperda of Breese, Karen (Alan) Timmermann of Breese, and Mary Kay (Kurt) Sudholt of Damiansville; 17 grandchildren, Nicole (Curt) Carrillon, Chad (Jen) Jansen, Aften (Josh) Wessel, Michelle (fiancé, Eddie Meyer) Alexander, Ryan (Allison) Alexander, Jennifer Kalmer, Julie (Kurt) Huelsmann, Carly, Nicole, and Alyssa Ripperda, Jaci Krebs, Travis, Alisha, Danielle, and Austin Timmermann, and Amanda and Emily Peters; 8 great grandchildren, Cara, Conner, and Maecie Carrillon, Brycen Wessel, Alayna and Autumn Jansen, and Grace and Lila Huelsmann; four brothers, Erwin Usselmann, Frank (Rita) Usselmann, Louis Usselmann, and Greg (Anna) Usselmann; two sisters, Francis Wuebbels and Rose Kraft; and sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Agnes & Popeye Korte, and Annie Timmermann. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Mary (Henrichs) Ribbing; infant sister, Mary Agnes Usselmann; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Melvin Wuebbels, Ray and Alice Book, Mary Usselmann, Floyd Kraft, Rita and Leo Macke, Arnold Ribbing, Edwin and Helen Holtgrave, Ray and Mary Ribbing, Clete and Johanna Walters, Marie and Roger Micheel, Ralph and Louise Ribbing, Ellie and Marcellus Potthast, and August Timmerman. Mr. Usselmann was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean War where his job was supplying ammunition to the front line. He was a member of St. Francis Parish, the Aviston American Legion Post 1239, the Aviston Bib Club and the United Upholster International Union. He worked for Contour Chair Company in St. Louis, Acme Furniture, Markus Cabinet Company, Aviston Lumber, Central High School, was a bus driver for Community Link, and reupholstered furniture out of his home in Aviston. Bob loved to play cards, dancing and country music, but most of all, loved his wife, girls, and family. He will be remembered as a fun, loving man. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2015 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2015 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2015 at Hempen-Nordike Funeral Home in Aviston. There will be a prayer service at 4 p.m. and the American Legion will visit the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
