Joseph Trevelline

July 14, 1929 — January 22, 2016

Joseph Trevelline, 86, of Carlyle, died Friday, January 22, 2016 at his son’s home in Lolo, MT. He was born July 14, 1929 in the mining town of Boyers, PA; the son of Luigi and Amelia (Campana) Trevelline. He married Loretta Hacker, originally from near Bartelso, in April 1960 in Denver, CO, and she survives in Carlyle.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Eric Trevelline, MD. Of Missoula, MT, and Michael Trevelline, attorney at law of Washington DC; four grandchildren, Eric Jr, Joseph, Joaquin, and Eleana; and two brothers, Francis Trevelline of Northeast, PA, and Raymond Trevelline of Girard, OH.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings, Theresa LaCava, Victor Trevelline, Paul Trevelline, and Ellen Doverspike.

Mr. Trevelline was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, he was stationed in Biloxi, MS and Denver, CO and served as a radar instructor. He held a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Youngstown State University. His aerospace career included: teaching mathematics to astronauts in Huntsville, AL; He worked at the Nevada Test Site (Area 51) where he was instrumental in developing stealth, black radar for the SR-71; a Project Nerva engineer (nuclear rocket engine project) at Los Alamos, NM Proving Grounds; and he was a Peace Corp volunteer in Burundi, Africa and Honduras, S.A. Joe along with his brother Raymond was the co-owner of a restaurant in East Liverpool, OH and a potato farm. Joseph was a kind man, a devoted and selfless husband and father, he was a lifelong student, and a wise counselor and conversationalist, and was very faithful to prayer. He was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Carlyle and the Knights of Columbus.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Carlyle with Rev. George Mauck officiating. Burial will follow at St. Cecilia Cemetery in Bartelso.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 and from 9 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at
Nordike Funeral Home in Carlyle.

Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice and will be received at the funeral home.
