Jane Bush, 96, of Carlyle, died Saturday, November 17, 2018, at Aviston Countryside Manor. She was born on September 21, 1922, in St. Louis, the daughter of John and Johanna Amann.
Jane grew up on Shaw Avenue across the street from the Missouri Botanical Garden. After graduating high school in 1940, she had a brief career in the insurance business. During World War II, she was a member of the USO where she met her husband, Robert Bush, who was from Chicago. They married on January 26, 1946. She loved being a homemaker and mother. She was very devoted to her family. She and her husband owned Central Wire & Iron Works, a steel manufacturing company in downtown St Louis. Jane's father John founded the corporation in 1907. The company closed its doors in 2002 after 95 years of being in business. Jane and Robert always lived in St Louis, but they also had a summer cottage in Waterloo, Illinois for 38 years. Her happiest times were on the weekends at the cottage. In 2006, Jane, her daughter Mary, and grandson Eric moved to Carlyle. She loved taking walks by the lake and river. She enjoyed nature especially feeding the wild birds outside her kitchen door. She was an avid reader and enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She was also a member of the Clinton County Historical Society. Jane will always be remembered as a kind, caring, and beautiful lady. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Jane is survived by her daughter Mary Louise Essen Pool and her son-in-law David Pool of Carlyle, her grandson Eric Essen of Jacksonville, Illinois, Eric's father, Carl Essen, of Ballwin, Mo., cousins in California, Texas, and Chicago, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Johanna Amann, her husband, Robert Bush, her son, John Bush, her father and mother-in-law, Robert and Mae Bush, and her sister-in-law, Lorraine Hahn.
A private burial will take place on Wednesday, November 21, 2018, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Church in Germantown.
Memorials are suggested to the Clinton County Historical Society, 1091 Franklin Street, in Carlyle
