Howard G. Ice of Carlyle passed away Thursday, July 29, 2010 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville at the age of 72 years. He was born in Catron, Missouri on March 4, 1938, the son of William and Myrtle (Taylor) Ice.Howard married Vivian Lambert Hitch on December 19, 1970 in Quincy, Illinois, and she survives along with two sons: Jeff Hitch and wife Jan of Damiansville, IL. and Fred Ice and wife Stephanie of Abeline, Texas; a daughter: Deborah Ice and special friend Albert of Abeline, Texas; a brother: Charles Ice and wife Martha of New Madrid, Missouri; grandchildren: Ashley Ann Hitch and fiance’ David Jordan of Carlyle, Katy Lynn Hitch of Damiansville,Matthew Ice and Daniel Ice of Texas; and a niece and nephew: Melanie Dewitt and husband Larry of Sikeston, Missouri and Charles Ice, Jr. of St. Louis.Howard retired after 32 years employment with St. Louis Flexicore Inc. in St. Louis as a Construction Superintendent. He enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and especially being with his family.Funeral services will be held on Monday at the Frerker Funeral Home at 6:30 P.M. with Monsignor Don Eichenseer officiating. Interment services will be private with the family.Friends may visit with the family at the Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle on Monday, August 2, 2010 from 3 to 6:30 P.M.For those wishing to honor Howard’s memory, memorials are suggested to Mater Dei Catholic High Schoolor the American Heart Association and those will be received at the Frerker FuneralHome in Carlyle which is serving the family.Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.frerkerfuneral.com .
