Elmer G. Netemeyer, 87, of Aviston, died Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Aviston Countryside Manor. He was born October 11, 1928 in Albers, the son of Frank and Mary (Heimann) Netemeyer. He married Jane Goestenkors on September 21, 1950 at St. Francis Church in Aviston and she survives in Aviston.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Alan Netemeyer of Albers; two daughters, Peggy (Mike) Pheney of O’Fallon, MO and Joan (James G.) Rakers of Trenton; grandchildren, Jeremy & Jameson Rakers, Jamie Nall, and Brittney & Alan “AJ” Netermeyer; step-grandchildren, Michael & Shawn Pheney, Jennifer Phillips, Amanda Griese, and Kyle Uhring; a great-grandson, Gage Rakers; step-great-grandchildren, Alex, Abby, Colin, & Sophia Pheney, Alexis & James Phillips, III., and Addison Bruni; a sister, Alice Zurliene of Fairfield; a step-brother, Arnold (Mary) Heimann of Germantown; a step-sister, Sister Marcianna Heimann of Herrin; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Vera Netemeyer of Aviston, Dolores “Dolly” Netemeyer of Albers, Florence Lohman of Aviston, Richard & Evelyn Goestenkors of Carlyle, Maureen “Moe” Goestenkors of Aviston, Stanley & Mary Goestenkors of St. Rose, Charles Goestenkors of Damiansville, and John & Carol Goestenkors of MI.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Rose Heimann; four sisters, Bernette Dulle, Sister Julie Netemeyer, ASC, Martha Horstmann, and Marcella Dulle; three brothers, Henry “Hank” Netemeyer, Paul Netemeyer, and Ralph Netemeyer; a step-brother, Herbert Heimann; a step-sister, Antionnette Engelmann; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Vincent Dulle, Tom Zurliene, Edna Netemeyer, Edwin Horstmann, Tony Dulle, Francis “Dick” Goestenkors, Anthony “Buck” Lohman, Robert “Bob” Goestenkors, and Dolores “Dot” Goestenkors; a step brother-in-law, Virgil Engelmann; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank & Pauline (Strieker) Goestenkors.

Mr. Netemeyer was co-owner of Aviston Lumber. He was a member of St. Francis Parish, a 61 year member and past commander of the Aviston American Legion Post 1239; and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 7, 2015 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Dan Friedman and Deacon Glenn Netemeyer officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2015 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2015 at Nordike Funeral Home in Aviston. The American Legion will visit the funeral home at 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may be made to St. Francis Parish and will be received at the funeral home.
