Charles W. Barackman

Charles W. Barackman of Carlyle died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family at the age of 75 years. He was born in Keyesport, IL on December 20, 1935 the son of Charles Joseph and Irene (Links) Barackman. He married Patricia Junker in St. Mary Church in Carlyle on February 14, 1956, and she survives.

Mr. Barackman is also survived by three sons: Bradley Barackman, Brian Barackman and wife Vickie, and Kevin Barackman, all of Carlyle; six grandchildren: Paul Barackman, Christine Barackman and fiancee` Jim Schomaker, Mark Barackman and wife Tarina, Keith Barackman and wife Billeigh, and Morgan and Kendra Barackman; six great grandchildren: Kylan Barackman, Candace and Owen Schomaker, Lily, Kellen and Sophie Barackman; and three brothers: Bob Barackman, Gary Barackman and Elvin Barackman.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; twin sisters: Patty and Betty Barackman; a brother and sister-in-law: Junior Barackman and wife Lou; a sister-in-law: Mary Barackman; and parents-in-law: Paul and Dorothy Junker.

Charlie had been employed at Highland Box Board and later Granite City Steel for 24 years. He had owned and operated Charlies Auto Body Shop in Carlyle. He later worked at the Highland and Carlyle WalMart stores for 8 years.

Charlie was a member of St. Mary Church where he served as an usher for many years; the Knights of Columbus Council 1382 of Carlyle, the USWA Local 67 in Granite City; SOAR in Granite City, ESDA in Clinton County.

Mr. Barackman enjoyed camping and fishing and watching NASCAR. But his favorite passion was being with his wife, sons, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating. The interment services will be private.

Friends may visit with the Barackman family at the Frerker Funeral Home on Friday from 4 to 8:00 P.M. or on Saturday from 8 to 9:30 A.M. The Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at St. Mary Church Friday evening at 7:00 P.M.

Should friends wish to honor Charlie, memorials may be made to St. Mary Church in Carlyle or Matthew 25 in Carlyle and those will be received at the Frerker Funeral Home which is serving the family.
