Cecelia Marie Goebel

Cecelia Marie Goebel, 89, of Bridgeton, MO and formerly of New Baden, IL, died Saturday, June 13, 2020 at NHC Healthcare in Maryland Heights, MO. She was born May 11, 1931 in Tripp, SD, the daughter of John and Alvina, nee Durmeier, Horvath. She married Robert F. Goebel on December 26, 1963 in New Baden, IL and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1983.
Cecelia is survived by her children, Lisa M. Ahern and Anthony R. Goebel; two grandchildren, Alex & Tyler Ahern; and a sister, Arlene Zarazinski.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, John Horvath; and a sister, Glory Nicholson.
Mrs. Goebel was a full time mother and a retired teacher’s aide for the Wesclin School District. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Maryland Heights, MO and a former member of St. George Parish in New Baden and St. Augustine Parish in Breese. Cecelia enjoyed gardening, birds, and St. Louis Cardinal Baseball. She was a book reader for the St. Louis County Library and a member of the Bridgeton Silver Sneakers.
A small, private family funeral and burial was held at Resurrection Cemetery in New Baden.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice and will be received at Nordike Funeral Home, 15 E. Hanover St., New Baden, IL 62265 who is serving the family. Condolences may be sent directly to Anthony & Lisa.
