Albert B. Middeke Sr.

January 14, 1932 — February 6, 2018

Albert B. Middeke, Sr., 86, of St. Rose, died Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at his home in St. Rose. He was born January 14, 1932 in Breese, son of Bernard “Ben” and Mary (Hellmann) Middeke. He married Helen L. Adamson on April 12, 1958 in Mt. Vernon and she survives in St. Rose.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Alvina (Jerry) Schomaker of Carlyle, Mary (Stan) Essenpreis of St. Rose, Ann (Cletus) Schroeder of Germantown, and Albert (Teresa) Middeke, Jr. of Edwardsville; nine grandchildren, Michael (special friend Jamie Detmer) Schomaker, Danny Schomaker, Brian (Julie) Schomaker, Ben (Lindsey) Essenpreis, Jacob (Brittany) Essenpreis, Amy (Dave) Buss, Landon (special friend Maddy Wilson) Schroeder, Kenzie Schroeder, and Aiden Middeke; four great grandchildren: Emmet Schomaker, Lucas and Alivia Essenpreis, and Caraline Essenpreis; and three brothers, Raphael (Bernadette) Middeke of Damiansville, Jerome (Helen) Middeke of Aviston, and Sylvester (Mary Jane) Middeke of Altamont, FL.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter,
Barbara Ellen Middeke.

Before his retirement, Mr. Middeke was the owner/operator of Tri-County Feed Mill Inc. and Middeke Poultry Farms, Inc. Bert was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Rose Parish and Men’s Sodality, Aviston American Legion Post 1239, Aviston Knights of Columbus Council, member, former vice president, and former president of the St. Rose Development Club, and an original organizer and director of the Alpine Savings Bank in Highland.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston with Rev. Ed Schaeffer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Rose Cemetery in St. Rose.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018 and from 8 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at Nordike Funeral Home in Aviston.

Memorials may be made to St. Rose Parish, St. Rose Cemetery, or for Masses and will be received at the funeral home.
